Worth a thousand words, indeed.

I am a frustrated writer who lives in Raleigh/Durham, and had just worked myself up enough to e-mail Mike and ask advice from him about writers and artists working together, as we had a friend in common who I had worked with. This was about August 12 or so. Imagine my shock when I went to the Marvel website just tonight, and saw this news.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mike's friends and family.

I am saddened and full of sorrow.

Hadn't seen the Momo piece. It pretty much sez it all, doesn't it? Thanks for posting 'em, Todd.

I've been keeping all of Mike's friends and families in my thoughts and prayers this last week.

All of these pieces say more than anything this fan of his work could.

Hey Todd,

(Sorry wanted to re-do this comment the original to me seemed a little off)Thanks for the pictures. I've got the Skottie Young piece as my myspace pic. They're all wonderful pics here though, and yes they say anything more than any words could. I hope the healing process is starting to kick in somewhat for you. As I've said though a million times, and I promise to keep doing it, my thoughts are with you buddy. If people want I posted a blog tribute, it's a Tellos piece I wrote in honor of Mike. I just wish there was more I could do....

I can't imagine how you're feeling, and offer my sincere prayers and condolences. I join the chorus of people who can say I didn't know Mike nearly well enough (a few MySpace e-mails and a long history with his work, but that's it). You were one of the first creators I ever met at a convention who took the time out to talk to me, though, and while I've never reached out to you before, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciated that as a little kid and how sorry I am for your loss.

After about three years toying with an idea, I had just gotten started putting together my first graphic novel recently. When and if it's completed and finds a publisher, I'll dedicate it to Mike and donate half of any money I might make on it to his charities.

Those are fantastic tributes. And from such a wide range of artistic talents. It's a testament to how much Mike and his work inspired people.

Some beautiful pieces people are creating in Mike's memory, he'd have been thrilled to see these.

Great pic of Mike with Matt and Suzanne at Heroes Con too.

Thanks for sharing these Todd.

I sure hope Mike is seeing these.
I hate that my Tellos comics are back in Vienna...There was just too much stuff to move ._.
I hope you're holding up ok. All the best.

Hiya Todd. Great photo of Mike, Matt & Suzanne. You know, these are the moments in our lives that we remember. Fun times, happy times, great days in our lives, days that we remember & look forward to as if they will never end...And after we lose someone that we love, we want them back...Those moments, those days, those precious seconds...We want them back...And the everyday memories of a sly smile or a witty comment or a corny joke or that unforgettable great big belly laugh that made you feel like all was right in the world, are still there with us...They bring a smile to our face, at the same time they tug at our saddened hearts...I miss Mike so damn much...as I know you do...See you in Baltimore...Paul.

There have certainly been many beautiful tributes to Mike over the past week. One of the saddest things about this tragedy is that it sounds like Mike never realized just how much he and his art were appreciated by both fans and colleagues.
