Our 2012 Banner--and the return of the "Five for Friday"!

okay...

as the title says, your "five for friday!" are back and waiting for you at the bottom of this post. for the past year or so, a LOT of people have been begging me to bring back our little end-of-the-week trivia questions and i really, really hope they're everything you remember...

but first, some stuff...

over the past few months, craig and i have been running around in all sorts of different directions, getting pages written, drawn, colored, and lettered, coordinating stories with our wonderful guest artists--thank you lauren, matt, christian, matt, and eric!--arranging for a star-studded line-up of fantastic cover artists, ironing out all the details with Image, and planning a grass-roots promotional campaign (of which this very blogpost is a part...) to widen awareness of the PERHAPANAUTS and get the word out that this is a fun book that people should be reading!

along with all that we also had paying work that needed to get done and, oh, yeah...personal life stuff that's always going on...

but one of the things that we somehow took for granted and that got overlooked in our mad rush a month ago to get convention-ready for Heroescon in charlotte was the fact that we got a new banner to show off at shows! craig was on fire the week or so before the show and, while on the phone discussing what our new banner should be, craig suggested it be something that showed the characters clearly and said that he had an idea for a very slight upshot featuring the six of them and then, while we were still on the phone, sketched this up and sent it to me before we'd even finished the conversation!

so many people dug the banner--and were asking if we were gonna do a print of it or something--that we made it our postcard for convention season as well. it's smaller, much more manageable, and i think the size gives it a bit of a cuteness factor too!

also available at our table this season, we have an exclusive PERHAPANAUTS: Danger Down Under ASHCAN previewing a variety of pages from stories from the upcoming series! It showcases the artistic talents of MATT WIERINGO, CHRISTIAN LEAF, ERIC HENSON and, oh yeah, craig rousseau. I'll be previewing most of those pages right here on this blog as our super-premiere draws closer--

a grim's haunt by nick tapalansky and alex eckman-lawn

okay...

i've been friends with writer nick tapalansky now for quite some time. we met years ago at our mutual local comic shop--actually, local for me meant 40 minutes; nick lived right around the corner. anyway, we became fast friends and found we had a lot in common. we'd meet and have lunch and talk comics and writing and stories and i was thrilled when he and his friend, alex, found a publisher for their dark, zombie noir book AWAKENING. the book was a swift success and was quickly optioned for a movie (...though we all know how that can be. hey, hollywood--stop being so fickle!) anyway, the book is a great read and is still available from archaia, so make sure you check that thing out.

also, check out the awesome perhapanauts story--that nick and alex did in their spare time, whatever that is--over in "Tales from the Perhaps!" (simply click the "TALES" link at the top of this page...)
alex and nick did this story for us years ago (i am totally embarrassed to say...) and we've been sitting on it hoping that we would sooner than later have a forum for it and use it as an extra story in an issue or two of a future miniseries. but as we continue to jam more and more excitement and adventure into the upcoming PERHAPANAUTS: DANGER DOWN UNDER, we found ourselves lacking for space and felt that we'd better get this story out for all the world to see!

so, here are the first two pages, you'll find two more over on the "TALES" page, with more added every tuesday and thursday. we know you're gonna dig it--we do!

craig and i are looking for a few good fans--perhapa-fans, that is!

okay...

so, as we hurtle ahead toward the debut of the all-new, all-cool PERHAPANAUTS mini-series, PERHAPANAUTS: DANGER DOWN UNDER!--due in stores this october!--craig and i are trying to garner a little more interest and a little more attention to our simple little comic and hope that we can rely on all of you to give us a shout out to your friends and family, colleagues and cohorts on facebook or linkedin or twitter or whatever. 

we'll be beefing up the frequency of blog postings, games, contests, give-aways and doing everything we can to create a stir and we KNOW that our perhapa-family is chock-full of talented and creative people who might have a few new/cool ideas on how to saturate the social media outlets with some great Perhapanauts Propaganda! got any ideas? good--'cause THAT'S gonna be our first contest!!

while at heroescon several weeks ago, craig and i got a chance to meet a lot of very talented perhapa-fans and urged them to send in their own pin-ups and pieces featuring our happy perhapa-gang!

one of the nicest guys i've ever met,

SHELTON DRUM,

holds an art auction to raise some monies to off-set the cost of this enormous show and

make it possible for shelton to bring in so many big-name and independent artists alike.

in the past, incredible pieces by artists like

 adam hughes, phil noto, frank cho, and andrew robinson

have brought in thousands of dollars. 

this year, this fantastic mark brooks 

dark phoenix went for a stunning $10,000!

before you get too impressed though...

overall, we had a stellar weekend and craig and i were able to hang out with old friends, connect with some new ones, and most importantly for you, our dear perhapa-gang, line up some great covers and pin-ups from some of the industry's best and brightest talents! we're really excited about the package we're putting together for you for our new series in october!

HeroesCon--Recap~!

okay...

so i finally found a moment to upload/download the pictures offa my camera from this past weekend, where we all had an AMAZING time at HEROESCON in charlotte!

easily my favorite show to attend, this year was no disappointment and we saw many of our friends from years past, got to hang out with new ones, and, overall, really spread the news about the perhapanauts in ways we hadn't dreamed of before!

LOVE it! as matt and i commented, yeah, for the obvious reasons--some of these costumes are just so damn sexy!--but also 'cause the people who do it, who take the time to make such awesome costumes and go through sometimes hours of make-up to look just right, they just LOVE this! it is creative expression, personal freedom, a chance to act and play all in one! HEROESCON '12!! Come and See Us in Charlotte~!

so we are packing our bags and boxes and books and things to head out for HEROESCON in Charlotte, North Carolina this weekend--June 24 and 25th! craig and i will be there with trades and t-shirts, postcards and prints, the new-for-2012 choopie butt card and, mostly importantly, we'll be joined by several of the gang that helped us put together the upcoming new miniseries, PERHAPANAUTS: DANGER DOWN UNDER!--artists Eric Henson, Matt Wieringo, and Christian Leaf!!

we'll be featuring an exclusive ashcan here in charlotte previewing some of the awesome work these guys have done for us and giving everyone a quick glimpse at the excitement that will be coming your way in october! christian, matt, and eric will be on-hand to autograph 'em--oh, and me and craig will sign it for ya too!

albany comic con~!

okay... due to a death in the family, i, regretfully, will not be attending the Albany Comic Con this weekend. but YOU should go! it's a great little show and there will be great guests there and great vendors with boxes and boxes full of comics and toys! craig and i will still be attending heroescon in charlotte in three weeks and will be joined by the star of the morgan spurlock film, Comic Con: A Fan's Hope and upcoming perhapanauts artist, ERIC HENSON! we'll have all the usual--and unusual--perhapanauts shwag as well as a cool ashcan previewing the new seeries that will be out this fall! and speaking of ashcans...craig will also have an ashcan previewing the all-new, all-cool ARTIST ALLEY COMICS--the coming soon digital, online web comic site created by craig and our pals, rich woodall and kelly yates! you won't wanna miss this! see ya in charlotte! smell ya later~ todd happy trails, rodeo frank! rest in peace--you earned it. love you, dad.

Perhapanauts on Tour~!

okay... so, as convention season now begins, craig and i will be taking the perhapanauts on the road! here is a list of the shows we'll be at throughout the summer and we hope to see you there!

i will be hanging out with all my cronies at the twice-annually albany comic con, sunday, june 10...

craig and matt and i will be at heroescon in charlotte, north carolina, june 22, 23, 24 along with our special guest, eric henson! we'll also have an exclusive ashcan/sketchbook of selections from the upcoming perhapanauts adventure Perhapanauts: Danger Down Under on hand!

Free Comic Book Day~!

okay... as many of you already know, this saturday, may 5th is~

i, and several of my buddies who frequent the ALBANY COMIC CON--held bi-annually...(...that's twice a year, right? or is that every other year? i mean the first one, check your local listings...) have banded together with Kristi Carrara at The COMIC DEPOT in Saratoga Springs and John Belskis at EXCELLENT ADVENTURES in Ballston Spa to form the first ever FREE COMIC BOOK DAY CREATORS ROAD SHOW!! here's the skinny: Excellent Adventures will start the day with Mark McKenna, Christian St Pierre, and Todd Dezago. They will be having a Sale with the " Spin the Wheel of Discount" game, and both shops will be offering limited edition creator cards for free, that can be signed by the creators that are visiting the shops that day.
