Weird, I'd always assumed that he got that style from the Wally Wood Hiroshima (or was it Nagasaki)EC story. It was all told the second the bomb hit... all in a flash (if I remember correctly) amazing story... maybe that's where Watterson got his style... or maybe it's just coincidence.
I was waiting for a "Frank Miller" reference in the punchline. Funny that it was the other way around. And very cool.
