there was a lot of continued discussion about the thing/she-hulk book i mentioned in wednesday's post and so i thought i'd post the cover here for anyone who want's to know what it looked like. i also jotted a brief run-down of that book's looong journey to being printed in the comments section. check it out if you like...

in my plea for volunteer guest bloggers the other day, i had a few cool email conversations with some of you and i'm really excited about some of the blog ideas you came up with! some really great stuff ahead! to everyone who has the time and the urge, thanks for your help! it means a lot! to anyone still on the fence and thinking about it, just let me know and i'll schedule you in. it's fun, ya oughta give it a try...!
of those aforementioned email discussions, i was chatting with our pal, roger ash, and he came up with a very much appreciated "five for friday", which, it just so happens, i was unprepared for today. and so, without further ado, i give you
roger ash's
"five for friday"!
1. What is the name of the beauty parlor that Carrie Fisher's character works at in the movie The Blues Brothers?
2. Name three bands that spun-out of the British ska band, The English Beat (solo albums don't count).
3. What Stan Sakai anthropomorphic comic features a wandering rabbit and his companion, who may be a guinea pig?
4. What British cartoonist created such characters as Alan Rabbit (AKA Bill the Bunny), Calculus Cat, and Max Zillion and Alto Ego?
5. Who are The Goons?
have a great weekend!
smell ya later!

Hey Todd-
Roger has totally stumped me.
I remember Carrie shooting an M-16 in that movie, but not the name of the parlor.
It's gonna be interesting to see what you've got cooking with the guest bloggers.
Have a great weekend, everybody.
Nah, don't count the Chooprechaun, Todd. I'll do something else for the jam.
I only know USAGI YOJIMBO in the Fiver, so I'll leave the rest to more the informed. (Though I should know the Blues Brother question...)
The Hitch Thing/She-Hulk page I bought was inked by Paul Neary, so I guess it's not from your story, Todd. Harumph.
leaf!
well, you already had the other tow choopie's for your entries--i just wasn't sure if the st.pat'sday one was part of the drawing jam or not...
and, yeah, paul neary inked bryan's pages on that job. which page didja buy?
Ah, the cover said Reis, so I figured he was the inker. Oops. I forget what page number it was, but it looked like Thing and She-Hulk were in a subway car maybe (one panel apiece) and then rest of the page was an explosion with some SWAT looking guys getting caught in the blast. Just checking the back issues at my LCS and no dice on the issue. I'll keep searching.
Leaf, I think Marvin and Marsha have this, so I'll see if I can pick them up for both of us. I didn't realize this was Todd's book so I skipped it when it came out. You'd think I would've checked the credits but I was beginning my anti-big-two phase.
As I'm now home with a stomach virus'd toddler I can tell you it's page 15 of the comic in my collection.
And thanks, Mafus.
I only know that Stan Sakai's British rabbit with the guinea pig sidekick (Hermie) is named Nilson Groundthumper. He's a distant cousin to Miyamoto Usagi. There's a lot more to the story but I doubt anyone's interested.
man, even when someone else does the five-fer i still blow! haha i only have usagi yojimbo as a guess really.
funny that you should post about that comic, i just looked them up on the 'bay and there's a few up for grabs there. i might get one there or try this one comic shop over the weekend.
and i like the MG drewing! nice job!
I just got the Usagi as well, everything else, the big donut.
As for the Thing/She-Hulk, the explanation is that Hitch and Neary did pages 1 to 25 and Reis and Emberlin did pages 26 to 39.
I actually get to answer a question that no one else has...
The beauty parlor is "Curl Up and Dye."
Stan's rabbit is Usagi Yojimbo of course.
The others...nadda.
